Great Denham Pavilion Works Completion

Works in Great Denham for David Wilson Homes are now complete! After procuring the project in a competitive Design & Build tender process, works commenced on the 25th of September 2017 and lasted 39 weeks.

The Sports Pavilion, located south of Anglia Way (Great Denham, Bedford) boasts two storeys, with a mix of Beam & Block, as well as traditional timber on the ground floor. Within the 39-week time frame, we, teaming up with other companies, were able to construct a prestigious build, with a high-quality finish. The Pavilion and Clubhouse features a multiuse game room and a carpark, for ease of access for the public. It’s all inclusive, sporting a kitchen, as well as multiple, separate male & female restrooms and showers- including showers and restrooms that are specifically tailored for wheelchair access.

Satisfying the requirements of the client was S.A.C.’s main priority whilst leading the project, and we are certain that we have delivered the best possible result. The accommodation’s build features traditional strip footings, as well as CHP heating and UPVC windows. The ground floor includes an entrance foyer, as well as a kitchen and café for the public’s enjoyment. Additional aspects of the build are a three-bed rangers flat, a ranger’s office, equipment, stores and a cleaner’s room.

Juliette balconies, bin and cycle stores, a solar tube and a plant room all add to the personality of this build.

DEBRA Charity Event

Our first of a planned total of three charity events to raise money for DEBRA was a success!

DEBRA is a charity that conducts research into Epidermolysis Bullosa, otherwise known as EB. EB is a condition that affects the skin, making it fragile, and is often likened to a butterfly’s wings, with children affected being dubbed Butterfly Children.

Attending this event were our employees, as well as family, friends and suppliers. A fun night to raise funds for DEBRA, as well as awareness of EB. Around 5000 people in the UK are affected by EB and more research is urgently needed, meaning that the more awareness is raised, the better. Those that attended got to enjoy pizza, a disco and more fun such as the raffle, whilst also helping a good cause.

Combining ticket sales, raffle prizes and donations, the Event managed to bring our grand total to date upwards of £5000! This was our initial target for the year, so we are happy to announce that we have raised our target amount, and are extremely thankful for those that have helped us to achieve this. We will be continuing in our efforts to raise as many funds and as much awareness as we can.

Three Peaks Challenge

Showing our support of DEBRA, a charity conducting research into Epidermolysis Bullosa, and also our chosen charity of the year, a team of our staff came together to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge route is 38.6 kilometres long and reaches heights of up to 5200ft. Participants must climb the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours. The three peaks are part of the Pennine range and encompass the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  Each individual peak is over 693 metres high, with the highest standing at 736 metres tall.

DEBRA is a charity with a cause that we wholeheartedly support as a company. Two of our directors suffer from EB simplex and we have other family members with the condition. Completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge was a way to raise funds for the charity as well as raising awareness of EB.

This event was the second out of a planned total of three. We previously held a Disco&Pizza night and are already planning our next event in September. We hope that our future events do as well as this one has with combined donations of over £2k raised! This brings our total of funds raised in excess of £7.5k.
