S.A.C. Construction Limited has chosen its first charity of the year to be DEBRA, a charity which conducts research into the severe skin condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa. Otherwise known as EB.

EB is a group of skin conditions of genetic origin, conditions that cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. Some of those born with Epidermolysis Bullosa, are unfortunate enough to have skin so fragile that they are called “butterfly children”. The name reflects the condition and is explanatory in the way that in some of the more severe cases, the skin is so fragile that it is similar to the wings of a butterfly.

DEBRA is a national charity providing research into the condition, as well as helping to support those living with the condition and their families. At this point in time, there are approximately 5000 people in the UK living with a form of EB and more research is urgently needed.

Here at S.A.C. Construction, we want to raise as much money as we can for the charity as we have several family members affected by the condition. We are kicking off the year with a charity event, an evening full of food and live music at East Carlton Cricket Club on the 17th of March 2018. Shortly afterwards, on Saturday the 21st of April 2018, a fearless team of our staff are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.

Further events will follow later in the year.

We would be very grateful for any sponsorship and donations to help DEBRA with their pioneering and important work.
